01 — General
What exactly is HippieTV?
A video player for PC, Android TV and mobile. You give it your streaming provider credentials or an M3U playlist, it plays the streams. We make the player; we do not provide the content — just like VLC.
Is it legal?
The player itself unambiguously is — it's a neutral tool, like VLC. The legality of your usage depends on the streaming service you subscribe to. Check that your provider has broadcast rights for the content it offers.
Which playlist formats?
Standard M3U playlists + XMLTV guide, and compatible streaming APIs (server login + password). The Stalker / Ministra protocol (MAG boxes) is not supported at this time.
Do I need an account to use HippieTV?
Yes, free. The Free plan gives full player usage on one device at a time. Multi-device sync, rich TV guide, PiP, Cast and cloud backup are on Pro and Family.
02 — Pricing and subscription
Difference between Pro and Family?
Pro (€7/year) covers 3 simultaneous devices — typically PC + TV + mobile. Family (€11/year) covers 6 and will include separate profiles. Other features are identical.
How does the 14-day trial work?
Fourteen days of full Pro access, no credit card required. At the end, you automatically fall back to Free, no surprise charge. One trial per account per machine.
How do I cancel?
One click in My account → Subscription → Manage subscription. Immediate cancellation, Pro/Family access kept until the end of the paid period.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. Request via [email protected] or directly from the Lemon Squeezy portal.
03 — Technical
What stream quality?
Whatever your provider sends. libmpv decodes HD, FHD, 4K, HEVC, AV1, SRT/PGS subtitles, AC3/EAC3/AAC audio. Hardware decoding on by default, low CPU.
VPN compatible?
Technically yes, but many streaming providers blacklist datacenter IPs (Mullvad, ProtonVPN, NordVPN, etc.). You may see HTTP 511 or timeouts. Test with your VPN before subscribing.
Works offline?
The player itself yes, playing already-downloaded content (DVR, TV guide cache, favourites). Pro features (sync, rich guide, cloud backup) require a connection. 7-day offline grace period.
Bug or crash, what do I do?
Settings → Network diagnostic runs ten parallel checks (DNS, latency, provider API, etc.). And Settings → mpv logs gives you the last session details. Attach both to a support email — we diagnose fast.
04 — Data and privacy
What data do you keep?
Server-side: your email, plan, signup and renewal dates. Not your streaming credentials (they stay encrypted on your device, never on our servers). No viewing history server-side on the Free plan.
GDPR, where are we?
Cloudflare hosting (EU and US by region). Resend for transactional emails. Lemon Squeezy Merchant of Record for payment (worldwide VAT collection included). Detailed privacy policy in /legal/privacy.
How do I delete my account?
My account → Security → Delete my account. Permanent deletion within 30 days (minimum legal archival window for accounting compliance). No follow-up emails after deletion.
